BRICS Youth Assembly Conference


The main objectives of the Conference - the systematization of the BRICS countries cooperation in the field of youth policy, the arrangement of cooperation in various areas of work of public institutions, the media, youth organizations of the BRICS countries.

The content of the Conference program will include a public discussion of the possibilities, ways and mechanisms of international youth cooperation of BRICS member countries, presentation of projects and programs of cooperation in the field of international youth cooperation, creation of the association of youth leaders of the BRICS member countries, formation of the strategy of the association work and development.

The conference is expected to be visited by representatives of government and municipal structures working with youth, the business communities, the media, leaders of youth and student associations of the BRICS member countries, whose scope of activity and interests are associated with the development of international youth cooperation and public diplomacy on the BRICS platform.

Working languages – Russian and English.

The Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation is a federal executive authority performing functions of development of public policy and legal regulation in

the sphere of education, science, research and innovation activity, nanotechnology, intellectual property, as well as, social support and social protection of students and pupils of educational institutions.

Federal Agency for Youth Affairs is a federal body of executive authority responsible for providing state services and managing state property in the sphere of state youth policy, implementation, in cooperation with public organizations and movements representing the interests of young people, of measures aimed at ensuring youth healthy life, moral and patriotic education and realization by young people of their professional abilities.

National Council of Russia Youth and Children Unions was established on January 10, 1992 on the initiative of 8 public organizations.

Establishment of the National Council of Russia Youth and Children Unions was supported by Presidential Decree №1075 dated September 16, 1992 "On urgent measures for the development of youth policy in the Russian Federation."

The National Council was registered in the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation on August 21, 1992. The status of the organization is nationwide. Today the National Council includes 41 all-Russian and inter-regional organizations and 32 "Round tables" (Coordination Council of youth and children organizations of the Russian Federation). Thus, the National Council is the representative body for youth and children unions of the Russian Federation, acknowledged as such within the country (by the government bodies), and abroad (by intergovernmental organizations - Council of Europe, the UN and non-governmental international organizations - the European Youth Forum, the World Youth Assembly etc.). The National Council of Russia Youth and Children Unions is a system of coordination of the activities of youth and children organizations and consultations between them.

Altai State University (ASU) was founded by the USSR Ministries Council Decree № 179, dated March 27, 1973 in Barnaul as an autonomous higher educational institution. At the time of opening the university included 3 faculties with several departments.

Today the university is the largest educational institution in the South of Siberia, with about 18 thousands of undergraduate and postgraduate students trained in a variety of specialties, from executives and economists to biologists, mathematicians and chemists, highly demanded not only within the region but across the country and abroad.

Altai State University has 12 faculties, a college, more than 70 departments and several branches in the major population centers of the Altai Region. On the basis of several academic institutes of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Science and joint laboratories, specially created at the university, there are conducted joint researches on the applicable and regional topics. The university operates its own printing and publishing complex, scientific library, which has more than 1 million items.

The Program of Strategic Development and the Program of Development of Students’ Associations Activities, implemented nowadays in the university, open up a new growth

opportunities. Significant prospect for development is the creation on the bases of Altai State University of an Asian University aimed at training of highly qualified personnel, not only for Asian countries - neighbors of the near abroad, but also for China, Mongolia, Afghanistan and India.

Russian Union of Students’ Organizations was founded on May 21, 2011 at the founding conference, held at the National Research Nuclear University "MEPhI". The initiators of the first all-Russian students’ organization were the leaders of the largest students’ organizations in Russia – Students Union of Lomonosov Moscow State University, MEPhI Students Design Bureau, Union of Ogarev Mordovia State University, Kazan Federal University Student Volunteer Centre, Pirogov Russian State University Student Council and of other universities of our country.

Today RUSO covers 52 regions of Russia, includes students’ organizations of more than 100 universities, including Lomonosov Moscow State University, St. Petersburg State University, MGIMO, most national research institutes, all federal universities of our vast country.

The Conference is conducted on the initiative of National Council of Russia Youth and Children Unions in the frame work of the Program of Development of ASU Students Unions Activities 2016 under the auspices of Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, Federal Agency for Youth Affairs, Association of Asian Universities, Russian Union of Students’ Organizations.

Cost of participation

Accommodation, meals and participation in the program is provided by the host party. Travel expenses to the conference and back are covered by the sending party.
